Bālāsana, also known as Child’s Pose, is a common yoga pose that requires a fetus-like submission of the body. Similarly, acclimating to a new culture demands an infant-like surrender. Adults that exercise this humble mentality can then transform their worldview to that of a child. Children are driven by curiosity, fueled by courage, and inspired by creativity; three skills which are instrumental to respectfully entering into another culture. In Bālāsana, Sedjo paints imagery of children creating while kneeling on the ground to illustrate these three poses of curiosity, courage and creativity as examples for adults to follow as they enter a new culture.
